What Causes Acne Scars?
Acne scars are visible because the scars are lower than the surrounding skin. Light casts shadows into them, making them visible. This occurs because over time you lose collagen and elastin (your body ceases to make normal quantities of collagen and elastin at around age 25)! How does the Re-Store™ - CO2 Laser Acne Scar Reduction Work?
The CO2 laser machine uses carbon dioxide molecules (CO2) to create a laser beam that treats your skin and scar tissue. The laser beam targets water molecules, heating them in a controlled fashion. The heat is then dispersed through out the skin and scar tissue. This heat dissipation induces the fibroblasts (cells that make collagen and elastin) to restart production, causing them to remake collagen and elastin! This then rebuilds the skin and remodels scar tissue inducing the skin to return to normal thickness, moistness and function!
Co2 Laser Resurfacing makes your acne scars and wrinkles less visible because it causes collagen and elastin production and deposition which raises your wrinkles or acne scar levels with the rest of your skin, much like filling in a sink hole. CO2 laser resurfacing also works on protruding scars by replacing scar tissue type collagen with more normal type of collagen as well and resurfacing the scar tissue flat.
